Tsi Niionkwarihò:ten - Our Cultural Ways
Cycle of Ceremonies poster available at the Kanien’keha:ka Onkwawen:na Raotitiohkwa Language & Cultural Center
Iakwahwatsiratátie employs hands-on, experiential, multi-generational teaching and learning which mirrors our ancestral ways of being.
We ensure to do our Ohen:ton Kariwatéhkwen daily to start our day off with gratitude for everything we’ve been provided by nature. While our activities are not solely child-focused, our children are included in every aspect of our day.
We follow our traditional cycle of ceremonies and seasonal calendar to guide our teaching throughout the year as well as offer culturally relevant workshops to our participants and community.
Our parent participants are taught the meaning, symbolism, & protocols behind our ceremonial teachings while also engaging in land based activities, storytelling, singing, and speaking in an effort to re-connect them to who they are as Onkwehon:we.
